Every group of people, to function as a true team, must go through challenging periods of ‘storms’ during which the team gets to know each other, harmonizes, and solidifies. In the boot camp, the Scrum Master will learn how to guide people towards deeper self-awareness, how to involve them in defining change, and how to navigate through changes more easily and together.
In terms of the company, we will assist you in establishing management and organizational change based on Value Streams through a product portfolio. This will help achieve a faster time to market, reduce dependencies, and streamline product development management.
Typically, the organizational structure, processes, and roles also adapt.
The implementation of SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) will fall under the responsibility of the transformation group (LACE), working alongside certified program consultants.
I At the Portfolio level, the ScrumDesk mentor will help set up portfolio backlogs necessary for the development of complex products. We will assist in identifying initiatives, epics, prioritizing them, setting up processes and tools, metrics, and ceremonies. We will help engage stakeholders in a more agile way of working.
At the Program level, we will align multiple products necessary for delivering a larger solution or a product composed of several other products. We will mentor chief product owners/product managers in preparing the program backlog, prioritizing complex requirements, planning, and evaluating the program’s status.
At the Product level, our focus is on product development involving multiple teams or suppliers. We will design and implement ceremonies to enhance alignment among multiple teams, prepare requirements correctly, visualize dependencies, assist with planning, execution, and control of the development of such products.
The SAFe transformation is carried out as an agile project.
Your internal team (the so-called LACE team) is working on it, along with a group of ScrumDesk consultants who will be actively involved in the change process.
We will work with the SAFe transformation backlog. Together, we will set transformation goals and prioritize the organization’s most critical issues.
We will plan quarterly as well as bi-weekly iterations. We will regularly meet regarding the implementation. We will communicate transparently with the people who will be affected by the transformation.
Module
The cause of misunderstanding is the wrong selection of information. What the information means and how the listener perceives it.
Active listening leads to effective communication, which we transform into a conversation to better manage daily life, achieve more accurate results, and fewer conflicts and surprises.
In the case study, you will experience the elements of the relationship between Scrum Master and the “sender”. How to differentiate people in communication and how to communicate with them from the position of a facilitator. You will learn how to differentiate between gathering information vs. complaining vs. bringing to a solution vs. working with a person who just wants a solution.
Module
The Scrum Master must not just react to change. He or she should actively initiate, implement, and manage change.
The Scrum Master is a change agent in the team and the organization. You will dive into the fundamentals of change management, discussing basic change management principles and frameworks such as. Kotter, ADKAR, McKinsey 7S.
We will go in depth on Lean Change Management with an application to your change of choice.
You will walk away with quality preparation for that change.
Module
How to prepare for change in practice. Together we will define the vision for your change. We will map the strengths, attitudes of people both supportive and resistant to change.
We identify the level of impact of the change and the position of people on the change adaptation curve. You will be able to more easily assess reactions to change in advance, not when they occur.
Module
Large changes in complex environments can only be implemented as feedback-driven experiments.
In this module, you will learn how to identify and set up experiments.
We will prioritize them and develop a roadmap of experiments.
Finally, we will build Kanban boards for transparent tracking of experiments and their impacts.
Module
For experiments to be successful, they need to be planned. We will prepare together a plan of activities that the experiments will require. We will make the activities visible on the Kanban board and define together a process for tracking them.
Module
Change is not straightforward in life. They can’t be planned perfectly the first time. Too often we don’t know what we don’t know.
That’s why we identify feedback parameters that will need to be closely monitored during change implementation.
Module
The success of a change depends primarily on the involvement of the people affected by the change. Therefore, it is necessary to communicate the changes. In the right form, manner and frequency.
Prepare the right communication plan for yourself to support the success of your change by involving your colleagues.
Module
Building accountability in a team is a long-term process. The accountability process helps to understand how accountability is created, to recognize the state of acceptance of accountability by team members, and to help the Scrum Master build accountability in the team.
The case study will walk you through the stages of accepting accountability. You will develop a foundation of activities that you can implement with your teams to discover internal attitudes towards accountability.
Module
Paradigm shifts cannot be achieved through training alone. People need to become comfortable with change and they need guides to do so.
The Coaching module will clarify the differences between training, mentoring and coaching.
You will discuss the situational appropriateness of mentoring techniques and coaching.
You will learn the minimum coaching fundamentals needed to support a functioning Scrum team. You will prepare the basics of a contract between a coached colleague and you as a coach.
You will try out basic techniques, e.g. Smartful questions.
Module
Build your ability to create a sense of non-threatening safety for the team during a shift so that team members are not afraid to get involved and come up with suggestions for problems.
Learn to actively encourage open communication without avoiding potential risks with a higher degree of creativity in problem solving and change.
Module
What defines a successful Scrum Master? A functional process, e.g. Scrum, or something deeper?
You will learn about the areas that define the success of a Scrum Master. You will build a structure of questions that will help define the metrics of Agile transformation success in your company.
Implementing change has always been met with resistance at our company. Bootcamp helped me understand that resistance was due to our unpreparedness on how to make change successful.
